Buick 2003 Centennial Meet BCA Flint Michigan Photo CD Discs (BIG car show event!)

Living in the “Motor City” (not necessarily “Detroit” – but relatively nearby, and all of the Greater Metro Detroit area is generally considered “the Motor City”) we are afforded the opportunity for plenty of automotive experiences around here (compared to the rest of the United States).

While we attend numerous car cruises, car shows, auto museums, and the like, we’re no different than anyone else really, we do have other things going on besides vehicular related activities in our life.

That means occasionally we miss out on participating at certain auto events that happen during the course of the year.
Like the subject matter herein.

We saw this listing on ebay for “Buick 2003 Centennial Meet BCA Flint Michigan Photo CD’s” and thought these might be pretty interesting to view.
They cost around $15 shipped.

This Buick car event, now almost 23 years ago, is a look back into time.
It was a HUGE celebration in/near Buick City (Flint, Michigan).
Held July 23-26, 2003.

We remembered this spectacle from back in the day, wanting to attend, but had other obligations at the time.
As there’s always other things to do, and then life just goes on.
Once the gala passed, we really didn’t give it a second thought.

Until decades later, when we saw this ebay listing.
We couldn’t help ourselves but to acquire it!
Checking online to get a bit of information about this big car show gathering, there really wasn’t a whole lot of photos from this meetup.
A few articles about it, and minimal info concerning the event, but not what or who was actually in attendance.
1 video clip was found on Youtube (about 25 minutes worth), which mainly featured the really old Buick vehicles participating.
Cool vintage stuff, but it didn’t contain any Buick Turbo related things.

Would there be any Buick Grand Nationals or its siblings sprawled out across the ways?
After all, that’s what we’re mainly into, and was hoping for.
It was a $15 gamble to find out.
(just like buying a lottery ticket, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose…)
Seemed like a tiny price to pay to get a look, and be able to share with you guys some of these vintage photos that were on the disks.

Did we win, and find any Turbo Regal prizes?
Have a look at what we discovered!

The package we bought contained 3 disks labelled “Buicks 100th Anniversary (Volume 1,2,3).”

Another cd, from the same event, named “BCA National Meet.”
[ we couldn’t get this disc to work on our computer ]

Then finally, the last cd, with no label, titled (hand written in marker on disc) “The Return of the Buicks.”
[ we couldn’t get this disc to work on our computer ]

Today we’re showing you just some of the photos (there were hundreds) from this collection.

.

disc 1 of 3, 1903-1969 automobiles, broken down by decades in separate folders.
[ we couldn’t get this disc to work on our computer ]

.

disc 2 of 3, contains multiple folders:
1963-65 Riviera (61 pics);
1970 and later (a mixed batch of cars, spread out in 21 multiple folders {with 20-25 pics in each}, no idea why they decided to do it this way – but, INCLUDING some Turbo Buicks inside! YAY!)
(looks like this batch is a car parade driving down a street);
BDE (Buick Driving Enthisiasts),
Reatta.

[ based on the photos, lots of Buicks were from out of state. The ones we could identify from MI, are not still here, as we know most of the local owners, and/or the Turbo Regals themselves, and none of these vehicles can be found in the Metro Detroit area any longer ]

.

.

disc 3 of 3, main folder: “general photos.”
This folder with 10 folders in it (which contains the banquet hall, award ceremony, concert {hard to tell, maybe Huey Lewis?}, cars at motels overnight, assorted people, old army airplanes and tanks, etc. {at the airport}, at the Flint Cultural Center Festival, cars under tents, the sloan museum {check out the GNX & the Pace Car row with the 1981 Regal Indy Pace Car!}, prototype cars).
One of the folders says “Saturday Night Program” (which shows the actual program schedule of events),

.

.

All in all, it was neat to check out these vintage photos, even considering 3 of the 5 discs we couldn’t open on our computer (not to say they don’t work at all, they just wouldn’t open on ours).

* * * * * *

Now that we’re done looking thru everything:

DO YOU WANT TO OWN THIS COLLECTION OF DISCS?

SAME PRICE AS WE PAID – $15 SHIPPED TO YOU (in USA).
(remember, we couldn’t open some of the discs, so you might not be able to as well = so you are buying these as-is, working or not!)

SEND US A MESSAGE IF YOU WANT THEM!

[ There’s just this 1 original set available – we’re not making any copies ]
