When the die cast car makers go thru the process of creating these toys for mass production, many different samples may be produced, but there’s generally only 1 or 2 that make the cut into what actually becomes the version that you or I may purchase for our Buick diecast car collections.
This preproduction version shown here is known as a “sign-off sample” – meaning this specific version is the one that will be copied off as the “go ahead” into the manufacturing process.
Of course, there may still be a few minor details that get changed after the fact.
Note the following special things about this particular sample car:
Gold markings on chassis.
No factory date code stamp on the chassis.
One incorrect non-matching rim.
purple tinted windows – which were removed in production versions.
