Before the advent of modern day type Buick key rings and chains, the method to hold car keys was inside of a case.
Usually made from leather, and stamped, embossed, or printed on, was the identifier of who made these key cases, or the sponsor/promoter of said item they were produced for.
Obviously they were created in the style of a wallet, which most people were already use to having, so it seemed like a good idea to continue on with that tradition.
They look awkward and bulky however, compared to the smaller versions we are accustomed to seeing today.
But back in the day, this probably wasn’t too out of the ordinary for automobile owners to possess.
Can you imagine nowadays looking at the steering wheel in your Buick Grand National and seeing this thing hanging there?
Well, probably not hanging as much as projecting outwards considering the position of the metal tabs where the keys attach!
For display purposes these might be a neat car show or exhibit addition though.
Something to consider.
