The annual Buick meetup for local Turbo Buick Michiganians was yesterday (August 12).
Held in the usual parking spot in front of the Staples building (across from the Moose Preserve).
The weather was hot! (but not as hot as it’s been lately)
So were the Turbo Regals that showed up!
2020 being as messed up as it is for us car folk, and with the regular (Saturday) Dream Cruise being “officially” cancelled (even though we know there’ll be plenty of hot rods going anyways), the turnout for this years Woodward Wednesday was acceptable, all things considered.
17 Buicks attended with Grand Nationals (mostly 1987’s) ruling the roost as usual.
Also in the parking lot:
1 blue Turbo T, 1 white T-Type, 1 WH1, 1 blue Limited, 1 Buick Special (with a 3.8 Turbo engine!), 1 Roadmaster, 1 LeSabre, and 1 Turbo Trans Am.
I know of at least local 3 BTR cars that are down at the moment, but that didn’t stop some of the owners from making an appearance.
.
As always during the week before the Woodward Dream Cruise, there’s plenty of muscle cars and whatnot driving down the Avenue.
Just not as many as the norm this year.
.
It should be interesting to see how the Saturday event plays out.
Will it be 12 miles of nothing?
Will it be like it was way back in the day before corporate sponsorship took over?
(and an actual better cruise)
Will the cops be shutting part of Woodward down to keep cruisers from doing there thing?
We will find out in a few days!
Stay tuned! Same Bat Time, same Bat Channel!
