1998 1999 Racing Champions Street Wheels Hot Rod Magazine Dynamite Diecast 5 Pack Buick Regal Sets

.

Back in 1998 & 1999, before the total craze of (black) Buick Grand National diecasts began to start appearing everywhere, the Buick Regal (based on a 1981 model) was still included in 1:64 scale packs and single cards, but with many different colored designs on them.

Such as these versions from Racing Champions, in conjunction with Hot Rod magazine.
From within the “Street Wheels” sets, which came both as singles, and as “Dynamite Diecast” 5-pack boxed sets.
Not all of the cars from the box sets appeared as single carded versions.
The Buick Regals shown in this post are examples of this.

The actual box packaging was slightly different on the assortments of cars like this they created. Some didn’t have an issue number on them, or the print was smaller than others. They were issued throughout 1998 and 1999, so the spread could explain some of the differences.

There’s quite a few various themed Buick Regal versions that were produced with wild colors and graphic paint schemes on them.

These are all pretty hard to find, and don’t come up for sale all that often.
(so expect to pay more than what they’re probably worth to acquire them)

The first shown:

Item # 04805 (all of the different boxed versions have this same number on them, on the bottom of the package)

Issue #12
5-pack
Yellow Buick Regal, has “SW” (Street Wheels) & “#1 in Racing” on the sides, over the top of an orange checkerboard pattern.
(It’s the 4th car down from the top)

The second shown:

Yellow on top, green on bottom, Buick Regal, has a yellow flamed graphic pattern on the sides.
(It’s the 3rd car down from the top)

The third set shown:
Here’s some loose cars we saw from the “Racing Champions Street Wheels” series.
(from top to bottom in first pic, then some close up shots below):
Green car with yellow custom stripes on hood, trunk & sides, big black scoop on the hood.
Yellow car with red & blue flames on hood & sides. chrome blower sticking out of the hood.
Yellow car with red & blue clown theme designed graphics on it (a hat on the trunk, a smiley face on the roof, bowtie on the hood, stripes & dots on the sides).
Orange car with blue roof, has a big scoop on the hood, with the number 1 on the sides.
