Sometimes when we see a specific custom item for sale, our creative mind says to us “hey, that could be modded to make x,” which is a similar, but a totally different new cool product.
That’s what happened with this item.
An ebay seller is offering a neat display stand for Hot Wheels sized diecast cars.
This unit has the Buick Grand National emblem sitting atop a base where you place your own 1:64 scale diecast car on, to display it with your collection.
It’s a pretty neat item for your desk or elsewhere that is custom 3D printed.
Made from a thick plastic material.
(He also has a vintage Buick logo available instead of the GN emblem)
The price is right too, just $12 shipped.
And by the way, this is a wife and husband Veteran owned and operated team.
(product is packed well & shipped out pretty quick too!)
Here it is in our collection:

Shortly thereafter, we saw they made another one, this time in a two tone blue color scheme.
WELL, now, that’s right up our alley, as our GN sports the 2-tone blue theme on it already!
We were going to order one of these too…
until our mind went into creative overload…

OK, now, for the creative part!
When we go to local car shows, we always have BuickTurboRegal.com on our minds, and since we’ve done so many mods to the Buick GN, people are always asking about them.
Then we mention this website (so they can actually see/read about what we’ve done to it – check out the “How to” section on this site if you’re interested), for which we then hand them a business card.
Of course, we’re not always around the car to do so (we like to go check out other peoples rides too!), so we use to have a general (plain) business card holder that we set on the radiator support so spectators can grab one while we’re away.
Enter this cool new item!
We contacted the seller of the above product, and asked if they could modify that unit slightly into something similar (since after all, it is a 3D printed item).
The base of this product needed to have some walls put up (to hold all the cards in place).
But at the same time needed a slot (in the front) to be able to get the cards out.
They gladly took on the project, and then made for us, using the above blue/blue Buick Grand National logo, a new business card holder!
How cool is that?
It holds about 30 business cards, which lay flat in the stand (leaving that awesome 2-tone blue GN emblem very visible).
Plus it matches well with the theme we have going on in this Gbody Regal.
It looks right at home sitting there!
The cost was a bit more than the regular stand ($18 vs $12), but totally worth it, as it’s exactly what we wanted, and fits our needs perfectly.
[ other vendors could use something like this at trade shows, swap meets, etc., placed upon a table ]
The seller makes many modified product versions (and not just Buick stuff), so if you’re thinking about something, you should get a hold of them.

We’re pretty happy now with our new business card holder!
