Ever wanted to own a Buick GNX?
This could be your chance if you’ve got deep pockets, or money just burning a hole in them!
We think the estimate is a bit low considering the rarity of the car, but I guess we’ll see when the hammer drops on Thursday, 9 October 2025, at the RM Sothebys auction in Hershey, PA.
The auction listing (lot 267) says:
Estimate: $90,000 – $120,000 USD
Offered Without Reserve
ASC McLaren-tuned Buick GNX; number 35 of just 547 produced.
1 of 3 GNX equipped with an ASC McLaren-installed power moonroof, per the Buick GNX Registry.
Purchased new by Lindsey Hopkins III, son of Hall of Fame Indy race team owner Lindsey Hopkins Jr..
Documented by original window sticker and purchase order.
Warranty booklet signed by NASCAR legend Bobby Allison, who often used this car when visiting Atlanta, according to the GNX Registry.
Chassis No.: 1G4GJ1175HP444101
Current Location: Hershey, Pennsylvania
Delivered new through: Zubor Motors of Lincoln Park, Michigan
Current mileage: 48,101.
.
Here’s an interesting thought, possibility, based on a guesstimation:
Since this car is #035, and we know (as we’ve seen it in person) that 1 of the other moonnroof cars is #033 (now in Richard Clark’s possession, and it was ASC founder Heinz Prechter’s personal car), the remaining “1 of 3” vehicles (which was owned by hotel magnate Richard Marriott) COULD BE GNX 034.
This only makes sense, don’t you think?
ASC probably took 3 numbered cars off the production line in a row and made them all moonroof cars.
