Yesterday we showed you some factory test run cars for the upcoming 2026 Hot Wheels release for the purple GNX diecast.
[SEE that post here: 87 Buick Regal GNX purple car prototypes ]
Those factory test cars were pretty close to the final released version, other than wheel rim choice.
Todays post is about the real pre-production cars, for that same purple GNX diecast we were discussing.
However, THESE cars have a totally different paint color on them (and rims as well).
True “pre-production” vehicles, made very early in the design stage, with no tampos or graphics. Basically just “ideas of concept.”
(whereas the cars from yesterday were created late in the process, with just 1 change left to be performed, rim choice)
These cars are sometimes harder to ID what they are (which cars for which product they are actually being tested for), since the paint jobs are totally different than the final product will be.
You have to use other visual clues in these cases to identify them.
Like the interior colors, stampings on the bases, etc.
(in these examples, the pink colored interior, which remained all the way through the process to the mass produced final version)
