The Buick GNX.
To further identify it for what it is, some owners obtained a vanity license plate for their special G body car.
Some states allow personal plates such as GNX 123, others not, as this combination can be actual real plates as well (from the “regular” batch of plates issued). Normal issued plates usually don’t have spaces between the letters and the numbers, and on the custom tags, the space between these two is predominately present. Perhaps the huge gap between the sets of characters is what allows these to be produced.
(it does make me wonder how the police call in these special tags when they’re checking them thru the system though!)
{I’ve seen a standard state made plate that read something like GNX 300, but was on a non-turbo regal car, and thought “huh? That’s not right!” – then, “wow, that’d be a cool plate to have as a fellow buick fan!” or collector, Buick GNX owner, to flip on ebay, etc.}
