2025 M2 Machines Sweethearts 1987 Buick Grand National Diecast

Looks like M2 will be cranking out a bunch of Buick Grand National diecasts again in 2025. Which is good for diecast car collectors, since the other scale toy manufacturers only produce them sporadically.

Their latest release, called “Sweethearts,” is right on time for Valentine’s Day.
The outer box has the candy shaped hearts on it.

It’s a yellow car with themed graphics.
1:64 in scale, sold in a window box packaging.
Number on the base: WMTS 22 25-01.

Production:
9250 regular cars.
750 chase cars.
250 super chase cars.

“super chase cars” ???
Some collectors are saying that M2 is taking advantage with their chase cars.
In comparison, Johnny Lightning’s “chase” was produced at about 1-2% of the normal car production.
Meaning 9250 would equal 92-184 chase cars, M2’s = around 8%.
And, the super chase cars are = to almost 3%.

Two schools of thought here:
1. it’s now a bit easier for anyone to obtain a chase car.
2. The values should be less because they aren’t really as “rare” as other (brand) chases.

Granted, some of the chase cars are pretty cool looking, but you’ll have to decide whether they are worth acquiring or not.

(we think collectors should buy things they personally like, not mainly for it’s resale value at a future time. although that sometimes helps in the decision factor on whether to purchase or not right now)

OK, back to these Sweethearts.
The regular versions (about $35) have silver wheels and trim (their standard features on all cars).

The chase cars (currently $30, and taking bids on ebay, with it definitely going up before it ends) have pink wheels, grille and interior.

We’re not sure yet what it looks like (but this post will be updated when we know more).
We do know the Super Chase are raw metal cars with the tampos on a raw (unpainted) body.
