The annual Woodward Wednesday gathering for all Southeastern Michigan (and nearby) Turbo Buicks brought out 50-some Turbo Regals in a few different flavors (and mostly black as expected – but we did see a couple red ones, and a couple blue ones {both light and dark}, along with a silver one) to the Staples parking lot (N of Square Lake Rd, Bloomfield Hills).
(there’s still 6-10 TR’s that are down waiting to be fixed, along with other “life” things going on, so the turnout was a bit low this year, but not disappointing at all!)
This is our favorite Buick event of the year (of the 2-3 that actually happen where more than a few cars are all in 1 spot, at any rate).
(and the #2 overall event for all car shows of the year).
(If you’re curious, the Ohio G-body show is becoming our #1 event overall, as since we’re G-body peeps, that event fulfills all of our desires to see all the things that we care most about… G-body’s!)
This meetup here allows us to catch up with the Buick folk we know, meet some new peeps, and view all of the awesome Buick Regals in attendance.
The GNX XRAY car (Rick Hunt) showed up as usual (always a pleasure speaking to him and seeing the Xray again).
Jay brought his cool twin-turbocharged WH1 T-type!
For the others, we got to see neat wheels on a few, some special goodies under the hood, and cool gadgets in the interior.
(shoutout to the guy from NJ who stopped by, and also all our regular homies we hang with!)
We spotted at least 8 new Grand Nationals (8 people/cars we didn’t recognize from previous events, but not to say some of these weren’t the same GN’s only with new owners now).
Lots of TR’s are trading hands the last few years for one reason or the other (it’s a good time to sell, BTW).
If your local to MI (or even if not so local) and you haven’t ever been to this event, put it on your schedule for next year!
(it’s always on the Wednesday before the Dream Cruise, at this same spot)
Check out other peoples cars & mods, talk to your fellow Turbo Buick owners (pretty much everyone is very approachable!), and plan to be here (3-9PM) and have an absolute blast of a time!
(the only regret you’ll have is not coming, not bringing your car, or not getting here early enough to check it all out!)
.
Saturdays main event will bring out a lot of G-body Regals, but it’s generally a scattering of where they are, not all grouped like todays presentation.
And remember to be smiling (or waving) if you’re out their cruising Woodward Avenue, as we’ll probably take your pic as you’re driving by!
