Low Mile 1987 Buick Grand National (OEM Reference Source Exterior Pics)

Living in the Motor City affords us the opportunity to see a bevy of assorted Turbo Buicks and related material.

There’s many Buick Grand National (& TR) owners in the Greater Metro Detroit area, and we know most of them (and then they know even more Turbo Regal caretakers), so we’re mostly in the loop of things going on around here.

With so many G-body Regals in Southeastern Michigan, we get to see some cool stuff that normally people outside of the inner circle’s Turbo Buick world (meaning vendors, true die hard Buick peeps, and the like) generally don’t get the chance to check out.

Rare parts, special mods, and cool cars (Buick GNX’s, prototypes, etc) are all a slice of what we experience.

And, things like this low-mile original 1987 Buick Grand National.
A friend of ours (Greg), recently sold this 16,000 mile car.
Purchased from the original owner, this unmodified example was a prime chance for us to grab a once over on it.
Check out how things were done from the assembly plant, where exactly things go, decal & assorted marking placements, and much more.

It’s not often you get to do a hands on examination of a historically correct 37 year old vehicle from 1987.
So we jumped at the chance to do so!

We spent an hour and a half at Greg’s shop, and took over 450 pics of this all original 1987 Buick Grand National!

.

It would be impossible for us to put them all in 1 single post on this website, so we’ve broken it down into 4 sections:
(meaning there’s going to be 4 separate posts for them, 1 each day, so come back tomorrow to see the next section!)

TODAY is the first post in this 4-part series.

1. exterior
2. interior & trunk
3. engine compartment
4. chassis / frame / under car

.

THIS page contains 20 photos, a sampling of all the photos we took!

Remember, we couldn’t put them all on THIS page, so if you need/want to see them all, follow the link at the bottom of this page.
It will take you to another page that contains a downloadable zip file (that has 109 exterior photos within)!

WE ARE MAKING THESE PHOTOS AVAILABLE TO ANYONE WHO WANTS THEM, FREE OF CHARGE!
[ Pretty nice of us, huh? ]

.

TO NOTE about the EXTERIOR photos:

* the tires are (accurate) new replacement Goodyear Eagle GT (P215/65R15).

* the body side molding was dealer installed (NOT what the factory used, but close, and the style used by car dealers in 1987 to resemble OEM)
[ so you should be aware of that, especially with the measurement photos of the emblems herein – meaning you should use the measurements from the body lines and fender edges – NOT the ones measured from the molding! ]

.

> GM A-body LED kits <   are available as well !
