Another new to us auto event, the “Revved up Richmond” show.
A car show at 3PM, followed by a burnout competition at 5PM.
There were roughly 50 vehicles that showed up for the car show.
A couple cool GM G-body rides, a Christine replica, a neat 1976 Monte Carlo with a Rolls Royce front & rear clip (with grille, head lights & tail lights).
The smoke show, which lasted about 2 hours, had about 30 competitors.
What a fun event to witness, especially the front wheel drive cars that did donuts in reverse!
Then of course, there’s those who melted the tires completely off, and others who unfortunately toasted their engines while performing.
A Dodge Charger smacked the wall, tearing off the rear bumper (and causing other rear damage).
Then there was a BMW, a monster truck, and a Cadillac.
We were surprised by the amount of pickup trucks & SUV’s that participated (more than half the contestants).
There were way more people here (with their daily drivers) than actual show vehicles, and with the event ending at 7PM, we left 5 minutes til to avoid traffic, so we don’t really know who won the competition, but almost all of the participants did a fantastic job.
(sorry FWD guys, the burnouts just don’t look that great, but nice effort)
This was definitely a cool event to attend.
(and will be on our list for next year!)
