OTHER NOTES:

Aftermarket senders may have 3-4 wires attached to the plug that plugs into the sender.

The in-tank fuel sending unit is a rheostat type switch which measures the resistance (ohm’s). The float arm and float is attached to that switch, and depending on the fuel level in the gas tank, is translated into ohm’s which is read by the fuel gauge in the dash. Bending the float arm up or down will translate directly to the gauge (by way of the rheostat/ohms) which shows how much gas is in the tank.

full tank = 90 ohms; empty = 0 ohms

Aftermarket versions are much more reliable (AKA “accurate”) than stock versions.
[the “fuel pump pulsator” is usually eliminated, and high volume strainers are included, along with new o-ring gasket & lock ring]
