Power Antenna Motor

PURPOSE OF ELECTRICAL MOTOR / PART:

receives broadcast signals for am/fm radio stations
retracts/extends thru the passenger fender

TURNS ON-OFF / FUNCTIONS / USED WHEN:

when the radio is turned on, the power antenna goes up/down, via the relay
(fixed antennas do not move)

LOCATION IN VEHICLE:

RH (passenger) side fender (antenna)
[the antenna motor is behind the fender, behind the wheel well, both which must be partially removed to replace the unit]

ORIGINAL GM PART NUMBER:

ELECTRICAL MOTOR / PART – BASE COLOR:

black housing, metal base, chrome/metal antenna

WIRES ATTACHED (ELECTRICAL MOTOR / PART SIDE):

white (down), goes to (junction) to antenna relay “C”

dark green (circuit breaker), goes to (junction) to antenna relay “B”

gray (up), goes to (junction) to antenna relay “B”

OTHER NOTES:

when the antenna stops working correctly (won’t go down), this usually means the internal cable is broken.
You can fix them yourself, but the removal of them is the hardest part.
There’s a few people who do repairs on them (you remove and send in).
(not exactly cheap, but new ones are also costly!)

There’s aftermarket versions (not that expensive) that can be adapted to work (and look ok).
