Our final auto event for today (3 of 3).
We’re in the Eastside Customs (auto shop) parking lot (23670 Roseberry Ave., Warren, MI).
They’re conducting a “Pre Show Hop Contest” with the main car show being tomorrow (Sunday, held by the Ride ‘n So Low car club, at the old Gibraltar Trade Center North).
This should be fun, or pretty interesting at any rate.
A hop contest.
We’ve never attended a show like this, but we’ve seen similar events online before.
Thought it would be something different to witness it live.
And it was, very cool and very crazy!
And so hard on them suspension systems…
(as expected, a few contestants broke stuff, but nothing major)
There were about 30 show-type vehicles here, in the lot, with some on the street (but not all participants hopped).
The spectator count was at least 3 times as many, with some people coming from a distance away to check this event out (one couple we spoke with came from Saginaw!).
We heard a few people say “this is the craziest sh*t we’ve ever seen!”
A perfect sentiment, but “good crazy.”
We spotted a few Regals strutting their stuff, as well as other GM G-bodies.
(Just FYI, “Legal Money” – the orange Buick Regal in the first pic, hopped 32″ off the ground! Nice!)

Next Friday is the Blue Water Cruise Weekend in Port Huron.
(hopefully it doesn’t rain!)
Of course, if you need somewhere else to go in the meantime, there’s always plenty of daily car shows going on.
