What could be better than hanging out with 1 million car peeps you don’t know?
Not to mention a couple hundred thousand assorted hot rods of all kinds (most of which you probably don’t care about).
Do you find it pleasant to drive 1 MPH down the street (for miles & miles), all during 90+ degree weather (with no a/c in the car)?
Well, that’s what happens annually on Woodward Avenue, running through multiple cities in Michigan.
The Woodward Dream Cruise is the renowned name of this event (in case you haven’t heard about it in the last 25 years or so).
[ we’re not knocking it, that’s just what it’s like attending this event! ]
There’s plenty to see and do all day long, should you choose not to either just drive your muscle car all day long, or drive your classic car to a certain spot and then park and watch everyone else drive by (which is what we mostly do, lol).
There’s festival-like settings along the route, things for kids to partake in, food trucks if you’re feeling experimental, and lots more stuff.
If there’s any certain type of vehicle you desire to see, chances are, it’s here… somewhere… along the 16 mile road course (Ferndale to Pontiac).
Of course, if you’ve ever visited this site before, you already know what kind of cars we’re into…
And there’s plenty of them to be seen below!
.
Within the pics, you’ll notice a white Turbo Regal (the front bumper & hood are all beat up looking), well, apparently this guy really wanted something like an El camino… so from the B-pillar back, he cut off the roof section! The back part of the Gbody Regal has an extended trunk lid all the way from the rear to the where the B-pillar was (it’s completely covered, like 1 huge trunk lid!)! It has a rear glass similar to what would be on an El Camino (but it wasn’t from that kind of car, seemed custom made). Weird looking!
We didn’t get to see it up close (darn it!), and almost missed it passing by (too much heat today & other things to look at going by).
.
Dig the shopping cart car & the Goodyear Blimp!
.
We spotted… too many Buicks & G-body cars to count!
.
Lots of shows happening next Saturday, and Sunday is the Hines Drive Cruise (we’ll be there).
