Some brand new Buick Grand Nationals & Regal T-types had Buick dealer advertising license plates on the front of them.
Where this wasn’t the case, auto dealers would usually install a Buick dealership license tag frame on the rear of the G-body vehicle.
Either way, these new car lots would gain a bit of free advertising exposure when the proud new automobile owners would drive their Turbo Regals around town.
The dealer license plate frames originally were all made out of metal.
After some time, like everything else, a cheaper way to make them was found, and now they are all made out of plastic.
