When these Turbo Regals were brand new, sitting on the showroom floor or outside in the parking lot, many of them had an emblem from the Buick dealership applied to the trunk.
This was usually on the right hand side of the vehicle (because the Grand National emblem was already on the drivers side).
It was free advertising for the Buick car dealers, and sometimes buyers got a neat looking emblem that contained the Buick Hawk or a tri shield symbol on them.
Other times just the name and city of the selling dealership.
Generally made from colored plastic, occasionally real chromed metal.
Year later, if the Buick Grand National, T-type, or Regal Limited was painted, these dealership emblems were often omitted afterwards.
We’ve also heard previously that owners would sometimes remove them before they sold the cars, as some kind of souvenir or remembrance of their new car purchase.
They would end up on a lot of toolboxes.
Below we show you a bunch of various Buick car dealership emblems that may have at one time been displayed on the tail ends of assorted G-body Regals.
