Vintage ECM Chips: Caspers HyperTech Kenne Bell TurboTweak Thrasher Turbo Tune VS Stock GN GNX

Here’s a look back on technology.
Many vendors offered assorted ECM chips for the stock 1984-1987 computers that were in Regals, T-types, Turbo T’s, Limiteds, and Grand Nationals.
Some were good, some not.

Almost all of the computer chips herein are no longer produced (TurboTweak is still making them).
As far as longevity and usefulness nowadays, it’s common practice to use either stock OEM chips or TurboTweak chips, the ones that are mainly run in the majority of Turbo Buicks today (with some of Bob Baileys “commander / extender / extreme” chips being utilized in some Gbody Regals as well, but those are usually used with maf translators).

All of these ECM chips (supposedly) offered performance gains for the Turbo Regal. Consisting of altering the original timing or spark advances, fuel adjustments, and allowing for more boost.

[ most chips are specifically set up for the injectors you’re using, grade of fuel octane to run, and boost pressure. some chips allowed other setting changes too ]

If you’ve been around the Buick game for more than a decade, we’re sure you’ve probably seen or heard about a few (if not all) of these various computer chips.
