9 port unit:
diverts vacuum from the proper selection of controls (a/c levels, vent, heat, defrost) from the hvac unit to where it needs to go (floor, windshield, dash, etc).
The valve changes the mode to the proper lever position selected.
2 port unit:
valve closes the Heater Flow Water Control Valve stopping the flow of hot coolant in the heater core when the hvac temperature lever is on total cold.
