Touch Climate Control A/C HVAC Broken Side Tabs Fix

Searching for info on how to fix broken mounting tabs on HVAC heater air conditioner control units?

This is for the touch climate control guys.
(but read the note below for C60 manual air conditioning heads)

Here’s a fix for the broken tabs on the sides of the hvac controller module.
(these tend to break off since they’re only cheap thin molded plastic)

Take some washers, thin ones, fold them over and use 3M panel bond to glue them onto the head unit.
Baby sit them as it sets up and get the angle just right.

Once completely hard, test fit it into it’s resting place in your Turbo Regal.

Be prepared to grind a little off and possibly drill a few new holes.

Screw it in by hand, you will break the case before you bust these off.

You might be able to use normal 5 minute epoxy to bond them on, but I haven’t had panel bond let me down yet.
Tips are expensive, but it is worth it.

[ed. note: just fyi, this same idea would probably work on the regular HVAC controller as well!]

[this is a fix that won’t be seen after you install the controller in the dash, since the bezel covers it up, so no worries about it looking bad in your Turbo Buick]
