Holy smokes! We bet you never knew (and probably can’t even guess) exactly how many switches there are in a Buick Grand National, Turbo T, T Type, Limited, or GNX.
It’s a LOT more than you think! WAY more!
Most people usually think of the obvious ones, and come up with like perhaps a dozen, right off the tops of their head.
There’s more than just the ones that YOU can (physically) turn on!
Some are controlled by the ECM, or by other inadvertant actions that you perform.
We tried guessing the amount ourselves (before we researched this), and came up with a couple dozen.
(but we were not even close…)
.
.
Would you believe there’s 48 (!!!) different switches in these G-body Regals?
We’re sure the majority of you didn’t even guess that many (and if you did, kudos to you!).
Starting in a couple hours, we are going to do a post for each one, describing what it is, how it works, the wires (with colors) that attach to it, plug connector details, and all of the other exact details you need to know for the specific part.
You know, for your future use in diagnosing that issue that will come up (because it will) on your Turbo Regal.
The posts will be here when you need them.
Or read them as they come out, to expand your Buick knowledge.
Check back again here later, and tomorrow (and the next day, and the next…) to keep up with learning all about this stuff!
The information is mainly for the 1986-1987 models, but some of the items on the 1984-1985 cars are the same.
Also, some of the posts have info for the specific 84-85 versions.
While the info is extensive for what the posts are, the posts aren’t really that long, so we are posting them 7 (SEVEN !) times a day (every 2 hours from 8AM – 8PM, EST), similar to like what we’ve been doing the last few weeks (only a bit more this week, due to the amount of posts there are in this category).
* WARNING! *
[there’s 48 posts, not including this one, so to get them on this site in a timely matter, within 1 weeks time as we have been doing, we have to drop them 7x per day]
[feel free to delete all the subscriber email notifications you’ll get from these – we understand if its too much or you don’t have time to view them all! We’re sure you will view some of them in the future]
.
(but if you haven’t yet, you do know you can subscribe so you don’t miss anything, right? There’s a popup form you can use, or a form on the sidebar of the website)
.
If you need the connectors for the wiring should yours be bad, caspers electronics has splices for most of them available.
.
We are posting them up in reverse alphabetical order (starting with the letter Z and working towards A).
If you’re wondering why we are doing it like this, it’s so that once they are all published, when you view them via the category list, they will appear correctly in alphabetical order!
