OTHER NOTES:

The door lock Tamper Switches are called “theft deterrent diode” on diagrams.
These are a metal ring with plastic inside (see photo), with 2 wires coming out, surrounded by shrink wrap, and has a black connector plug on the end of the wire.

The door lock cylinder switches “disarm” the system (“disarm input”).

The door jamb switches “arm” the system.
The door jamb switches are the “arm and tamper input”

The trunk lid switch is the “arm and tamper input”

The power door lock switches are the “arm input” for the “lock” side.
The power door lock switches are the “arm cancel input” for the “unlock” side.

There’s a bunch of different connections that intertwine within the factory theft deterrent system.
We’re going to show you the original diagrams for the entire system here as well.

rpo code = UA6, theft deterrent system with starter interupt (vehicle must have power door locks)

[SEE theft deterrent controller module]
[SEE theft deterrent relay]
[SEE anti theft system relay]
[SEE starter interrupt relay]

If the “security” light flashes, the system is not armed. When you get out of the car, lock it using the door lock switch and the light should stay on without flashing, that means it is armed. As soon as the door is closed, the light will go off but the system will remain armed until you unlock it.

[SEE Security dash light]

HERE IS HOW A FELLOW BUICK OWNER SAID HIS SYSTEM WORKS:

This is how the factory system works in my car:

1- Doors closed system armed or un-armed: SECURITY lamp off.
2- Doors open system un-armed: lamp flashing.
3- With door open press PDL switch to LOCK doors and arm system: lamp goes from flashing to on steady.
4- With door open press PDL switch to UNLOCK doors and dis-arm system: lamp goes from on steady to flashing.
5- Do step 3 again, to arm system then close doors. System will activate and lamp will go out in 2 seconds.
6- Key unlock from outside dis-arms system. Otherwise lights flash and horn blows if entry is gained by other means: jimmybar, or popping lock cyls on doors or trunk.
